From September 16th-18th PCA America held its 2019 National Conference: “Moving Upstream,” where nearly 1,000 attendees gathered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for programs ranging from workshops, symposia, and paper and poster presentations on topics such as data-informed approaches to prevention, resilience, and achieving health equity.The following are only a few of the many highlights from our time in Milwaukee:

Sunday, September 15th: Healthy Families America (HFA) hosted its own pre-conference program specifically designed for those implementing HFA in their communities, as well as those who support HFA at a state or regional level.

Monday, September 16th: the conference officially begins with the welcome ceremony and Leslie Crutchfield’s opening plenary, “How Change Happens”

Tuesday, September 17th:“The Big 3 in Home Visiting” lecture series, sponsored by theVerizonFoundation, addressing the timely issues of substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health.

Wednesday, September 18th: “EVICTED,” a mobile workshop, which took attendees on an intimate tour of an exhibition based on urban sociologist Matthew Desmond’s Pulitzer Price-winning book of the same name.
